The Tactical Compendium is a research material for advanced Military Academy technologies. It is connected to Charge Formation and Sweep Formation, not every research category, and it is not required from the first level of those technologies.
Evony's official knowledge-base answer says both categories unlock at Military Academy Level 11, which requires Keep Level 46. Tactical Compendiums are needed only after the technologies reach certain levels; they are not required at Level 0. See the official Tactical Compendium guide.
Check the Unlock Chain
- Confirm the Keep requirement shown by the game.
- Confirm Military Academy Level 11 is available.
- Open Charge Formation or Sweep Formation.
- Inspect the next research level.
- Read whether Tactical Compendiums are required at that specific stage.
Do not collect or spend based on a universal quantity table unless the current interface confirms it. The official answer explains the purpose and unlock, not a permanent complete cost schedule.
Choose Research by March Role
Formation research should support an actual troop and march plan. Identify which march is being developed, compare the next visible effect, and avoid dividing rare materials across branches that do not support the current goal.
Example Decision
If Charge Formation offers a relevant next effect for the account's primary march while Sweep Formation supports a later plan, concentrate the available Compendiums on the current branch. Reassess when the next level or account role changes.
Common Mistakes
- Searching for the item before meeting the unlock chain.
- Assuming it is required at technology Level 0.
- Spending without reading the next research effect.
- Splitting materials equally without a role-based priority.
- Following an old cost chart instead of the live interface.
Checklist
- Keep requirement confirmed.
- Military Academy Level 11 confirmed.
- Correct formation category opened.
- Next effect read.
- Next material requirement read.
- Research priority tied to a real march.
